Regulations

Slowly but surely regulations become increasingly strict and specific about business continuity and disaster recovery. Standards are being issued by different organizations, including ISO, BS, ANSI, central banks, federal agencies and professional associations that create country’s mandatory and de facto standards.

Standards and regulations cover almost every aspect of business continuity and disaster recovery. Basel II and SOX do not point out specific technologies that should be employed or address specific requirements, but rather remain at the concept level, requirements and needed results. On the other hand, BS 25999 and HB 292-2006 offer details of planning, design and procedures.

Surprisingly, there are no regulations to correlate the actual facility structure with BCM or DR, but these should be expected in the near future.
